Go Fargham... Go Ferrets! Series creators of the new television show Fargham, Marc R. Bondy, David Cormican and Aidan Simpson, hope that phrase will be everyday vernacular for all Canadians this time next year. The trio, living in the Bloor West/High Park area, hosted the first ever read through of Fargham's pilot episode last night to a supportive invite-only crowd. The guest list contained local producers, casting directors and prominent actors, including Ric Waugh, Millie Tom, Ron Leach & Bob Kane. The series creators go under the banner Creatively MAAD. Everything has been moving so fast, says Cormican on the group's success, it's nice to see our excitement is so contagious. It's like everyone we come into contact with develops a case of Fargham Fever! The three spend most of their meetings in any one of the many coffee shops in and around the West Village. Quite often one coffee turns into an entire afternoon of writing, forming series plot lines, arcs and future stories.
Fargham is the story of Scott Michaels', a former small town golden boy, and his fall from grace and eventual return to glory in and amongst a cast of colourful and zany friends and characters. Air Farce main-stay Luba Goy is rumoured to be amongst those being considered for the supporting cast.
When asked during the post read-through celebrations what we can expect next from these rising talents in the Canadian film & television industry, Cormican makes a wry smile and laughs. Next?! We're still working on Fargham... but Aidan (Simpson) and myself are busy developing an online series into new media content for cellular devices and iPods, and Marc is currently in talks for a new position in Toronto's theatrical community, but I can't say too much about that right now.
Fargham is scheduled to go into principal photography in January (2007) and is currently seeking a North American broadcasting partner.
David Cormican is an actor, writer, series creator and expectant father residing in Toronto's High Park village.
